VirtualStaff.ph vs UpWork

Updated on : 25 Oct 2024

In this article, I will share the BIG differences between the outsourcing platform VirtualStaff.ph and the freelancer marketplace UpWork!

First of all, both sites are good, and depending on what you want for your business, both will benefit you.

Obviously, this article is on our website so you may think that we would be biased. However, we are not going to get into all that. Instead, we will just point out the key differences, and you can then make your mind up about which platform best suits your specific needs.

PRIMARY GOAL OF UPWORK

It's a platform that connects you with freelancers from around the world. You communicate and hire them on the UpWork platform.

The big selling point of UpWork is that the freelancers have UpWork reviews. This advantage is also a disadvantage if you're looking to hire long-term staff on a part-time or full-time basis.

Advantage of the UpWork rating system:

  • It's great if you're hiring somebody on a per-project basis. It means you can check that they have also completed similar projects and also see what previous clients and customers think of the work they did.

The disadvantage of the UpWork rating system:

  • It means "workers" are rewarded for working for as many clients as possible. This is BAD if you're looking to hire somebody as a virtual staff or virtual assistant and have them work for you "similar" to how a part-time or full-time employee would.
  • The more projects a person works on, the more UpWork rewards them, which can be bad if you're want to hire somebody long-term.
  • More projects mean more ratings, which also means highly skilled workers often lose out, despite having exceptional local "non UpWork" work experience.

PRIMARY GOAL OF VirtualStaff.ph:

VirtualStaff.ph is a Philippines remote team-building platform where businesses can hire remote staff and virtual assistants in the Philippines.

The BIG difference here is that VirtualStaff.ph is focused on connecting entrepreneurs with remote workers in the Philippines.

On top of that, another big difference is that most workers on the VirtualStaff.ph website are looking for part-time or full-time work, which means it's often a better solution if you're looking to replace local employees and hire somebody on an ongoing basis.

When to use UpWork

  1. You want to hire someone for a project or a one-time job.
  2. You're not concerned about the hourly rate that you pay.
  3. You are OK to work with freelancers that are working with multiple clients, as opposed to "staff."
  4. You are not looking to specifically hire workers in the Philippines.

When to use VirtualStaff.ph

  1. You want to hire long-term staff, whether that's part-time or full-time. (Positions such as virtual assistant etc.).
  2. You want to hire workers or remote staff in the Philippines
  3. Your primary goal for outsourcing is to reduce your employee costs
  4. You don't want to work with "typical freelancers" and want your workers to be more like "staff."

ENTERPRISE OPTIONS:

Both VirtualStaff.ph and UpWork offer clients an Enterprise option. In terms of costs, we don't have the available information to share regarding the UpWorks enterprise option. However, you can read this review about VirtualStaff.ph enterprise solution.
